Ascendant Neighborhood Development is excited to share a meaningful staff update as we begin the new year: Victor Filpo will be stepping into the role of Community Development and Engagement Manager, continuing his impactful journey with our organization and the East Harlem community.
Victor’s time at Ascendant began in 2024, when he joined us as an ANHD Morgan Stanley Fellow, bringing a thoughtful and grounded approach to our community work. After completing the fellowship in mid-2025, he continued his involvement as a Part-Time Community Outreach Coordinator, supporting projects like ShareNYC, Carmen Villegas Apartments, and Metro North Plaza.

In 2026, Victor will take on expanded responsibilities, including increased engagement with residents, coordination of community meetings, and collaborative planning with local partners and stakeholders. His new role reflects Ascendant’s growing investment in resident-led development and responsive, equity-centered organizing in Northern Manhattan.
Victor’s warmth and intentionality have made him a trusted face in our community spaces. His expanded role will help us deepen our relationships and better respond to the needs of those we serve.
We are thrilled to have Victor’s leadership as we continue building homes and raising up neighborhoods rooted in stability, opportunity, and cultural pride.
