We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Derek Gaskill to Senior Development Project Manager!

Derek has been an invaluable member of our team since he joined Ascendant as an intern in the summer of 2018. In the spring of 2019, he became a full-time employee, taking on the role of Project Manager. Since then, Derek has continuously demonstrated his exceptional skills and dedication, contributing to the success of the many development projects and neighborhood initiatives Ascendant has launched in recent years.
Derek’s new title is a testament to his incredible ability to navigate the complex landscape of neighborhood and resident engagement, intricate land use processes, and extensive agency approvals. Every day, he approaches his work with a positive attitude, boundless creativity, and unwavering teamwork, all fueled by his passion for our mission.
As June’s Pride celebrations conclude, we would also like to take this moment to acknowledge Derek’s dedication as a vocal trans rights activist and his remarkable efforts in spearheading the LGBTQIA-focused ShareNYC supportive housing project. Over the past four years, Derek, who was involved in the original RFQ process, has poured his heart and soul into making this innovative project a reality. He navigated extensive pandemic-related delays, successfully guided the project through the ULURP process, and cultivated a partnership with Ali Forney Center, which will be providing on-site social services for all residents.
Please join us in congratulating Derek on this well-deserved promotion, which recognizes his outstanding contributions – both past and present – to the neighborhoods and people we proudly serve.
