AND seeks nominations of qualified Board member candidates. AND will maintain an active list of candidates for ongoing consideration.
The AND Board is comprised of fifteen (15) members who serve three-year terms. Qualifications include demonstrated leadership ability and knowledge and skills from experience or training in one or more of the following areas: affordable housing, special needs housing, real estate development, property and asset management, community development, neighborhood planning, preservation, sustainability/resiliency, finance, policy development, strategic planning, management/administration, capital development, corporate governance, marketing, negotiation, fundraising, grant-writing and accounting, or such other skills as the Board may identify.
AND seeks candidates who demonstrate the following abilities and characteristics: credibility with the professional community and government entities with which the organization works; reliability, sound judgment, flexibility and creativity; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other Board members, staff, community individuals, and groups with diverse backgrounds and philosophies; ability to make difficult decisions on behalf of the organization; and ability to take a multi-cultural perspective and to support strategies that enhance a diverse, sustainable Northern Manhattan community.
Prospective candidates should demonstrate a willingness to commit time and personal resources; to serve on Board committees; to represent the organization at community functions; and to support the organization’s mission and values.
