We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Derek Gaskill to Senior Development Project Manager. Derek has been an invaluable member of our team since he joined Ascendant as an intern in the summer of 2018.
This past Friday, June 16th, seniors at our Lucille Clark Older-Adult Residence enjoyed creating art with mural designs by artist, N. Carlos J.

Our Reconnaissance Level Survey of East Harlem South/El Barrio report just received the award for Excellence in Historic Preservation from the Preservation League of New York (PLNY). Ms. Marvelli and AND officially received the award during PLNY’s awards ceremony on November 7, 2022.
We are absolutely thrilled to announce the award of a $12K grant from Preservation League of New York State! As the fiscal sponsor for the Landmark East Harlem coalition, we applied for the grant to fund a reconnaissance level survey of historic resources in the northern portion of East Harlem.

As the days dwindle in another challenging pandemic year, we thank you for sharing your valuable time with us as we've navigated a busy and intense 2021! The ongoing pandemic has left many of us unsure of what the next steps are for our lives, be it personal or professional. That is why in 2022, we at Ascendant have decided to put more energy and resources into connecting personally with our fellow East Harlem community members.
This year Ascendant added 550 deeply affordable apartments to our project pipeline, which will almost double the number of Ascendant residences in our portfolio. With these new homes come much needed social services, community spaces, and neighborhood programming that will forward our mission of building resources and opportunity for our incredible community members who call Northern Manhattan home.
AHF announced the winners last week - and thanks to your votes - we won our category! We are humbled (and excited!) to be recognized for our work preserving 21 East Harlem residential buildings and their 359 affordable apartments as part of the massive Ascendant Heritage project.
We are very proud to announce that the New York City Department of Housing Development and Preservation (HPD) has chosen Ascendant Neighborhood Development (AND) and The Community Builders (TCB) to redevelop the existing East Harlem Multi-Service Center site.
